Felicidades! Breakfast With The Knights - The Knights will be hosting a French Toast Breakfast on Sunday, November 17th after the 10am Mass in the parish hall. There is no cost, however if you wish to donate there will be a donations box out on the day of. The menu will consist of 2 slices of French toast, scrambled eggs, sausage, fruit salad, and coffee or orange juice. 2025 Lector Workbooks - The 2025 lector workbooks for all lectors are in the Conference/Lay Minister Room. Altar Servers Needed - Altar servers are needed for both English Saturday and Sunday Masses. Diocese NewsSt. Egbert Catholic Church And School Host Third Annual Harvest Fest - 11/7/2024Saint Egbert Catholic Church and School recently hosted the 3rd Annual Harvest Fest. The complimentary event included booths facilitated by all the church ministries as well as games and activities hosted by St. Egbert Catholic School. Children enjoyed face painting, a bounce house, lots of engaging activities and games, and a costume parade. Child & Youth Protection Looks To Level C Personnel To Update, Train - 11/4/24It’s been three months since the Office of Child and Youth Protection rolled out new guidelines impacting 14,000 people who work and volunteer in the Diocese of Raleigh.
To date, about 54% of those impacted have updated their information and completed necessary training. Dr. John Pendergrass, the director of the office, hopes to see momentum before the holidays and for the remaining 46% to complete necessary tasks, such as updating contact information and completing online training. ... David Brockman, rector of Holy Name of Jesus Cathedral, and Father Juan Manuel Alvarez and Father John Vedanayagam, parochial vicars at the cathedral, celebrated Mass with migrant farmworkers Oct. 27 in Four Oaks, NC.
The Four Oaks outreach work grew out of the annual diocesan summer gathering for farmworkers. In collaboration with various clergy, Deacon Juan Banda and his wife Lettie began a year-round ministry to these workers, who come to North Carolina for about seven months each year, away from their families, to plant and harvest various crops. (OSV News) — A new podcast about the rosary promises to deepen listeners’ love of the Marian devotion and draw them closer to Jesus and his mother, Mary, in the new year.
“I hope people fall in love,” Father Mark-Mary Ames, a Franciscan Friar of the Renewal, the host of “The Rosary in a Year” podcast, said during a virtual press conference Oct. 28. “I hope our listeners and those who make this journey with us … fall in love with the rosary because they experience it as … a privileged door for encounter with Our Lord and Our Lady.”
The free podcast by Ascension, a Catholic multimedia network, begins Jan. 1, 2025, and continues through the year with a new episode released daily. Listeners can tune in on platforms including the Ascension App, Spotify and Apple Podcasts, for the episodes that run 10 to 15 minutes long. An Oct. 21 poll by The Associated Press-NORC Center at the University of Chicago reveals that 62% of registered voters feel — despite improvements — the nation’s economy is still in bad shape.
Selected economic issues polled by AP-NORC indicate mixed results in terms of voter trust to engage these challenges: With regard to taxes on the middle class, 46% trust Harris, while 36% trust Trump; jobs and unemployment, 43% Harris, 41% Trump; the cost of housing, 42% Harris, 37% Trump; the cost of groceries and gas, 40% Harris, 42% Trump; tariffs (taxes on imported goods), 37% Harris, 42% Trump. ... Only Love Will Save Humanity, Pope Says In Encyclical On Sacred Heart - 10/25/2024
VATICAN CITY (CNS) - A world that has become "heartless" and indifferent to greed and war, and a Catholic Church in need of revitalizing its missionary joy need to open themselves up to Christ's infinite love, Pope Francis wrote.
By contemplating Jesus' Sacred Heart, the faithful can be filled with the "living water that can heal the hurt we have caused, strengthen our ability to love and serve others, and inspire us to journey together toward a just, solidary and fraternal world," the pope wrote in his encyclical, "'Dilexit nos' ('He loved us'): on the Human and Divine Love of the Heart of Jesus Christ."
The Vatican released the 28,000-word text Oct. 24.While it is the pope's fourth encyclical, he wrote that it is meant to be understood in tandem with his previous two encyclicals, "Laudato Si', on Care for Our Common Home" and "Fratelli Tutti, on Fraternity and Social Friendship." ... Read More
