2/11/2018 Homily (6th Sunday of Ordinary Time)

Adult Faith Formation Starts on Feb. 22nd - 2/17/2018

Classes in Adult Faith Formation for the season of Lent will continue on Thursdays at 10:00 am in the library. As usual the classes will use DVD's on a variety of topics. These classes will continue on each succeeding Thursday through March 22nd. The next two classes we will view a brand new series dealing with the topic of suicide. This series title is Finding Hope After Suicide Loss. Kay Warren wife of Rick Warren who wrote Purpose Driven Life will discuss their own son's death by suicide. Marjorie Antus will discuss My Daughter Her Suicide and God and finally Father Ronald Rolheiser will speak about a pastoral approach to ministering to those who suffered the loss of a loved one through suicide. After that we will spend two classes looking at a video by Father Robert Spitzer S.J. dealing with the subject Why Would An All Powerful God, All Loving God Allow Suffering?

Father Spitzer by the way is legally blind which adds a sense of credibility to the topic. In the final class we will view Bishop Robert Barron's DVD on the Seven Deadly Sins and the Seven Lively Virtues. Bishop Barron in his typical insightful style will show how the Capital Sins of pride, envy, anger, sloth, gluttony, avarice and lust lead to patterns of dysfunction. However Bishop Barron presents the antidote to each sin and helps set us on the right path to healing and happiness. Please plan to join us for these
classes.
